Producer and DJ Jonny Miller’s Jus’Listen Recordings digital label continues to capitalise on the advancement and collision of underground genres such as broken beat, dubstep and abstract hip hop beats.
For digital single 004, Daco returns to the label after a busy year touring with the Elektrons across Europe and productions for his own Magnetic Recordings imprint. ‘Round & Round’ twists and breaks as Mike Rapheal’s cool vocal gives the essential dose of soul to work the dancefloor. The track has proved very popular pre release with spins off promo cdr from Zed Bias, Domu and many of the broken beat scenes key players.
Mancunian DJ and producer Johnny ‘Chimpo’, one of the rising stars of the dubstep scene, delivers his first cut for Jus’Listen Recordings. ‘Vaporub’ fuses dubstep and broken beat while giving a definite nod to the old school UK rave sound. The tracks warm synths and strong piano melodies seem to evoke memories of Future Sound Of London’s ‘Papa New Guinea’ while the tough rhythms and dub effects keep ‘Vaporub’ firmly in a box labelled 2009…Feed the Chimp!
